About
Samantha Haythorne. Creative Pattern Cutter. A Leeds College of Art BA (Hons) Fashion and Design graduate and also a student of a Post Graduate Diploma in Creative Pattern Cutting. The areas of fashion that I have gained knowledge in during the BA (Hons) Degree are: Trend Prediction, Branding, Business and Enterprise, Illustration, Designing and Making, Tailoring, And Pattern Cutting. During the PGDip, I have learnt about: Fabric Manufacture, Garment Technology, Production Methods, and Creative Pattern Cutting. My main interests in fashion are pattern cutting, tailoring and garment technology. Overall I would like to be a freelance pattern cutter, cutting for well known fashion houses so that I can work with high end and bespoke garments that are intricate and beautiful. |
I am also proficient in Adobe Illustrator and am very interested in technical packages and flats as these are a strong point for me. I have a technical mind that allows me to pattern cut and create professional technical packages much easier than designing a garment or a collection. I like to develop my work through toiling rather than having a pre-designed collection. For me a toile is a starting point from which I can grow and develop designs and that is how I created most of my Final Major Project.
I also have a strong interest in writing and thoroughly enjoyed researching and writing my dissertation. It is something that I would like to continue working with and I am a member of the WildChild media website posting articles that are of interest to me and the general public. |
